Roger D. Janssen
Roger D. Janssen, 69, of Beatrice died at his home on Sunday, July 2, 2017. He was born March 31, 1948 at Harbine and graduated from Fairbury High School in 1966. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from May 1968 until March 1970 as a field medic and was awarded a Bronze Star. He married Debb Skoff on January 21, 1972 and they later divorced. On July 14, 1979, he married Carol Wittler at Beatrice. He worked at the Beatrice State Developmental Center as a direct care staff person from 1972 until 2007. He enjoyed grandchildren, camping, hunting and skydiving
Survivors include his wife, Carol of Beatrice; one daughter, Bethany Fentress and husband Todd of Greenville NC; three grandchildren, Marina, Megan and Madison Fentress; two sisters, Phyliss Sutton of Bellevue and Dorothy (Steve) Thorton of Grand Rapids, MI; three sisters-in-law, Lorna (Chuck) Hohbein of Beatrice, Toni (Steve) Spilker of Eagle Rock, MO and Judy (Larry) Kassebaum of Mesa, AZ; two brothers-in-law, Wayne (Bert) Lomax of Crete and Ralph (Linda) Wittler of Firth; one aunt, Elvera Olsen of Fairbury. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Elda Free Janssen and brother-in-law, Chuck Sutton.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday, July 7, 2017 at Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice. A register book for signatures will be available at Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 8:00 A.M. Thursday until time of services on Friday. Military honors will be conducted by Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion of Beatrice. Casual attire is suggested. www.foxfuneralhome.net.
