Evelyn Jane Zimmerman
Evelyn Jane Zimmerman, 90, of Beatrice died at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Home on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. She was born June 10, 1926 at rural Pickrell and attended Evergreen Country school. She worked on the family farm and was a babysitter and homemaker for other families. She married Arthur Zimmerman on August 4, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell and they lived and farmed in the area for 39 years. Evelyn moved to Beatrice in 1990. She worked as a cook at Martin Luther Home/Mosaic for nearly 40 years. She was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church where she had been involved in WELCA and blanket sewing. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking (especially bread), reading, bus tours and neighborhood card parties
Survivors include two sons, Dwayne Zimmerman and wife Nora and Dale Zimmerman all of Pickrell; three daughters, Donna Frack and husband Jeffry, Karen Fulton and husband David and Diane Gronewold and fiancé Larry Pope all of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, LaVern Parde of Beatrice; one sister, Wiona Jurgens of Beatrice; two brothers-in-law, Clarence Zimmerman of Beatrice and Ernest Zimmerman and wife Marilyn of Pickrell; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Marie Fritzen Parde; her husband Arthur, who died November 18, 1989; one grandson, Kyle Zimmerman and one sister, Doris Gronewold.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church of Pickrell with Pastor Jerry Gilbreath officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of Pickrell. A family prayer service will be held at 1:15 P.M. at the church on Saturday. A memorial has been established to the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell with Dean Zimmerman and John Gronewold in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 8:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. Friday and at the church one hour preceding the services on Saturday. The family will meet and greet friends and relatives at Fox Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M.
