Obituary

Elsie Laura Margaret (Luebbe)  Kracke, 86, of the Wilber Care Center formerly rural DeWitt passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017.  She was born March 27, 1931, the youngest of nine children to William and Anna Heidtbrink Luebbe, on the family farm southeast of Seward.  She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church (Middle Creek) of rural Seward.  She grew up helping her parents along with her brothers and sisters on the farm and attended Immanuel Lutheran School to the eighth grade.  She attended Concordia High School in Seward and later the Lincoln Beauty Academy in Lincoln.  She earned her cosmetology license in May, 1952.  Elsie worked in Lincoln at Miller and Paine as a beautician for several years.  On June 9, 1957, Elsie was united in marriage to Lovelle F. Kracke at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church (Middle Creek) of rural Seward.  They made their home on the Kracke family farm raising two children, Duane and Ruth.   She enjoyed raising her family, being a homemaker, helping Lovelle with the farming and raising livestock and poultry. Elsie’s life took a dramatic change in November of 1997, when she was severely injured in an automobile accident.  While healing from those injuries, she suffered a debilitating stroke in February of 1998.  After a long hospital stay, she returned home with the help of Lovelle, Duane and Ruth as her care-givers.  She remained at home for the next 11 years and ten months with the continuing help of her family and friends.  In September, 2009, she moved to the Wilber Care Center.  She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of rural Clatonia and enjoyed going to church and spending time with family and friends. 

 

            Survivors include one son, Duane Kracke of DeWitt; one daughter, Ruth (Donald) Odvody of Western; twin grandsons, Evan and Beau Odvody; step-grandson, Christopher (Amanda) Odvody of Wilber; step-great-grandson, Allen Odvody of Wilber; two sisters-in-law,

Gloria Pospisil Henning and husband Arnold Henning and Alice Keller Spilker all of Lincoln; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lovelle, who passed away December 26, 2016; parents-in-law, Herman and Rose Henke Kracke; two sisters, Gertrude (Walter) Richert and Wilhelmina (Henry) Giesman; six brothers, Martin (Ila) Luebbe, Herbert (Irene) Luebbe, William (Frieda) Luebbe, Laurence Luebbe, Henry (Bernice) Luebbe, and Arnold (Eleanor) Luebbe; two sisters-in-law, Marion (James) Spilker and Shirley (Glen) Hasenohr; one brother-in-law, Elvin Pospisil; five nephews, Rodney Luebbe, Roger Luebbe, Dwight Luebbe, Dennis Luebbe and Larry Hasenohr.

 

            Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of rural Clatonia with Pastor Steven Kahrs officiating.  Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.   A memorial has been established to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church with the church elders in charge.  A family prayer service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday                 in the fellowship room of the church.  The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 12:00 noon Wednesday until 9:00 P.M. Thursday and at the church one hour preceding the service on Friday.   The family will meet and greet friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home.  www.foxfuneralhome.net.  Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.

Dear Family of Aunt Elsie,
We are sorry we won't be able to attend the funeral. We will be traveling through Nebraska at the time , but not in time to get there. Our sympathy and prayers are with you.
